WORLD champion Scott Mitchell believes he will be the man to beat when England defend their Six Nations Cup title in Belfast next month.

Ripley-based Mitchell, who scooped the £100,000 top prize at Frimley Green more than a fortnight ago, has been selected for national duty from February 20 to 22.

The 44-year-old will join the likes of Lakeside semifinalist Glen Durrant as England aim to see off Scotland, Wales, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Netherlands.

‘Scotty Dog’ said: “It’s fabulous to be selected off the back of winning the world title.

“Being world champion, I’ve got a bit of a target on my back this time round but that’s the game.

“I’ve always had that.

"When you are good at the game you are always the man people want to beat, so it’s not something I’m not used to.”
