TEAM Reid's Tackle look on course to take the annual Teams of Four angling competition title for the fifth consecutive time.

After Saturday's penultimate match at Witherington Farm Fishery, Reid's Tackle hold top spot with 211 points while their B-team are in second place with 202. Their nearest rival is Eastleigh Blue with 185 points.

Weights were good in Saturday's match, with Dave Self (Eastleigh Misfits) the top individual winner with a bag of 82lb 4oz from Cottage Lake. Runner-up was John Gray (Reid's Tackle) with 77lb 14oz from the Outer Snake Lake and in third place was Hayden Mayers (Reid's Tackle B) with 58lb 12oz from Sellwood Lake.

Reid's Tackle had a brief spell when they were not on top spot but the weekend's points saw them back as leaders with every prospect of remaining there at the end of the final match in the series, to be fished on May 9th.

Fishing has generally started to improve as temperatures slowly start to climb. A mid-week match at Witherington Farm, an open competition on Barnmoor Lake, was won by John Gray with 46lb 2oz, Dave George was second with 33lb 3oz and third was Martin Rogers with 22lb 14oz.

Other fisheries also report a slow improvement and with warmer weather in the offing, anglers should start to enjoy better fishing from the region's lakes.
