FANS at Thruxton race circuit during the Historic Motor Racing Easter Revival got to witness a real treat as Mark Linstone stole the show in his vintage 1968 Brabham BT21.

Taking part in the Classic Racing Car Championship race, the event featured vehicles that date from the 1960s and 70s.

During the Saturday morning’s overcast qualifying session, Linstone put his Brabham a respectable ninth on the grid with a time of 1:33.595.

Throughout the 20-minute race, Linstone fought to make up ground by lapping three cars and setting the timing screens purple with a scorching lap of 1:30.661.

In an intense battle with fellow Brabham BT21 driver Chris Holland, he improved to sixth place, finishing just 0.3 seconds behind his stable-mate.

Elsewhere, it was a disappointing weekend for Peter and Nathan Dod who were racing a TVR Griffith 400 in the HSCC Gaurds Trophy for GT cars, as they were not classified as race finishers despite qualifying a well-earned tenth on the grid.
