SALISBURY’S Phil Muspratt and Rob Langan head to Manchester this weekend for the British Masters Long Course Championships.

The three-day event at Manchester Aquatics Centre will attract 600 competitors from across Britain.

Langan will be hoping to secure medals as he did last year as he goes into a bumper schedule of events.

He will compete in the 200m, 100m and 50m backstroke as well as the 200m and 100m freestyle.

Langan said: “I hope to perform well in Manchester, a pool I have never swam at before, so that in itself will be a new experience. I look forward to pitting my wits against the best in Britain with the aim, as always, to come out on top.”

Muspratt will be heading into his first major event of the season. After a break from the sport he has entered just two races, the 100m and 50m freestyle.

“The event in Manchester will be very tough to even come away with a medal, as it’s a very tough field,” said Muspratt.

“With my long term goals in mind, it’s about swimming a technically sound race.

“I will be aiming for both long course and short course British records within the next six months, culminating in a European and World Record in 2016” said Phil.
