GLAMOROUS women will be slipping on their posh frocks for Salisbury Racecourse's flagship event of the season.

A whole host of categories at Saturday's Ladies' Day, coupled with a thrilling racing programme, is set to attract more than 6,000 race goers.

The Netherhampton venue's seven-race card has attracted an initial entry figure of 170 horses, including the feature race (EBF tallions breeding winners ladies´ evening fillies´ handicap) worth £14,000.

While the racing's going on, women can win prizes for best-dressed, best hat, best shoes, most exotic outfit and more.

Twenty finalists will be selected for the best-dressed competition by the three judges and each will receive a gift bag.

Ahead of Saturday's meet, clerk of the course, Jeremy Martin said: “Westover Ladies’ Evening has, in recent years, become Salisbury’s principle raceday and generates the most interest locally and beyond."

"We expect an adult attendance in excess of 6,500 people.

"Many women dress up for the occasion, and as usual, there will be some excellent prizes on offer in the best-dressed competition. All being well, it will be a fine evening weather-wise, with some exciting racing to enjoy."

After the racing is entertainment from Take That tribute band, Fake That.

They will perform a collection of the wonder hits from the famous band.

Gates open at 4pm and the first race is at 6pm. Music finishes at 10.30pm.

Tickets for the Bibury Enclosure sold out in a record time of four weeks but entry to the grandstand is still open.
