RICHARD Hannon continues to flourish at Salisbury Racecourse after a sterling treble on Ladies’ Evening propelled him to the top of the trainers table for the season.

The leading trainer prevailed for the umpteenth time at the Netherhampton Course’s flagship event which saw thousands of women dress up in their finest dresses.

Sean Levey opened the Herridge handlers’ account in The Bathwick Tyres British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden aboard recent Royal Ascot runner, Palawan.

The odds-on favourite was never in doubt of gallivanting clear of a packed field to win the opening race, ahead of fellow stablemate Skeaping, who finished in second.

Sandwiched between Hannon’s next winner, which came once again through jockey Levey, was 8/1 outsider Joe Packet.

The third race shocked punters as favourite Tuco came nowhere in the 6furlong spring as Aldayha raced home at Hannon’s biggest price of the evening, 12/1.

Who Dares Wins completed the Hannon hat trick, benefitting from a stellar ride courtesy of the roving Tom Marquand who managed to get his mount to the front in the dying strides to land The Bathwick Tyres Handicap Stakes.

The feature race of the evening belonged to Roger Charlton’s Suffused.

With just four horses in the field for the one mile one furlong closer, William Twiston-Davies trotted home on the short price of 6/5 by six lengths for the £14,000 prize fund.

Elsewhere, among the night’s winners were Ajaadat and Who’sthedaddy.

There was plenty of entertainment off the track, with Gabriell Gowman winning the best-dressed women.

The vast majority of racegoers stayed afterwards to enjoy music from Take That tribute band, Fake That.

Clerk of the course Jeremy Martin said: “The evening was once again a huge success and an attendance of 6,769 was recorded. This is the most ever at Ladies’ Evening and it is now without doubt the biggest event of the summer at the racecourse."
