SALISBURY Stingrays Masters took another step towards winning the County Championship with a fine victory in the second leg of the tournament in Trowbridge.
A reduced swimming team was no hindrance to Salisbury as they came away with an 80-point lead, and are now ahead in both the men’s and women’s competition.
They won 26 golds, seven silvers and 15 bronze medals, with Shirley Seabrook, Carol Vaughan, James Stocks-Reid and Rob Langan collecting three golds each.
The women’s team are well ahead and unlikely to be caught, but Salisbury’s men’s team only have 11 points between them and Corsham, who are only in their second year in the competition, swept past Swindon Dolphins, themselves winners of the men’s competition for the last three years.
The final gala on Saturday, October 3 will be on home soil for the Stingrays, who are hoping to win their fifth championship in six years.
nKeen swimmers wanting to join a club can do so on Monday nights at Five Rivers Leisure Centre at 8pm.
