SWIMMING duo Rob Langan and Phil Muspratt were left content with their gala results at the Long Course British Masters Championships.

The three day meet – Manchester Aquatics Centre – attracted more than 600 swimmers nationwide.

Stingrays' swimmer Langan continued his rich vein of form in the 200m backstroke with a silver medal, clocking 2mins and 34secs.

He doubled his tally with a second silver in the 100m backstroke in a time of 1:7.

In his three other events – the 50 backstroke, 100m and 200m freestyle – he finished fourth, tenth and 12th respectively.

I swam well in the events I targeted, exercising the things I've been working hard in in training recently," reflected Langan.

"I wasn't rested for this meet, so to have come away with 2 silver medals is pleasing" explained Rob."

Muspratt, from Salisbury, competed in a restricted set of events.

In the 100m freestyle he finished just outside of the medal positions in fourth and said "it's a tough to come to a meet I'd normally win and not medal".

But Muspratt did clinch a medal, bronze, in the 50m freestyle,

He added: "In a year's time I know I'll be able to look back at this and smile, knowing it was a stepping stone onto bigger and better things. I'll be back next year, fitter, stronger and a winner.

Muspratt's heading to Nice, France, in October for the European Masters Games.
