AN Amesbury trio progressed to the last four of the Bowls Wiltshire Competitions.

In the singles, Tom Warner’s great run of having won seven games came to an end when he lost to Dave Godwin of Chippenham in the semi-final.

In the pairs, Mick Crook and Mick Tyler met a similar fate when they lost to Ben Gadd and Wayne Simmonds from Holt.

Maureen Wolley’s Alderbury rink are through to the semi-finals of the ladies’ competitions. They will now proceed to Leamington in the Bowls England Finals.

It is very close at the top of the Mixed Triples League. Mere are in top spot but are only one point ahead of Wilton with Sherfield English in third place.

Downton Ladies, having only been promoted to Division 1 this season, are on a marvellous run. They have moved into top spot in the New Forest League with very good recent wins over Lyndhurst and Waterside.

In the Wilts 4 Rink League, Amesbury are heading to win the Area Section once again but it is a close battle for second place between Alderbury and Salisbury. Salisbury beat their rivals by one shot and they are now eight points ahead with only two games to play.

Downton’s Men are struggling in the New Forest League but recorded an 8-0 win over Ringwood.
