YOUNGSTER David Rice shined on his Cuestars South of England Under-21 Silver Tour snooker debut.
The Fordingbridge player potted his way to the final at Salisbury Snooker Club after finishing second in his group and going onto beat Steve Hughes 2-0 in the quarter-final and Connor Benzey 2-1 in the semis.
But, in the final, he lost out to 16-year-old Drew Hampshire 2-1.
The second leg of eight is at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon, on Sunday, November 1.
