A NETHERAVON motorsport team has beaten expectations in the 750 Motorclubs Classic Hatch championship with Marcus Ward finishing his rookie season seventh in the overall standings.
Racing alongside his brother in the 4Ward Motorsport team he exceeded all expectations as he took three podium positions, a double pole position at Silverstone and only missed out on victory at Silverstone due to a mechanical issue. Brother Ben, 36, finished 16th overall out of the 37 competitors.
Marcus' impressive feat was came despite only contesting ten of the 14 rounds and had not driven most of the tracks.
The championship sees hatchbacks built prior to 1991 compete around some of Britains most famous circuits and Marcus, 32, was named Novice Champion.
"Hopefully we can carry on like this next season," said Ben. "Marcus has had an amazing first season and has already proved that he is someone to watch out for in the future."
The team is currently expanding and is likely to be running another two cars on top of the existing three. They are sponsored by Rangers Garage of Durrington and Blue Bee Solutions who have been on board with the team since the end of 2013.
