SUNDAY saw the tenth running of The Chalke Valley Challenge (CVC) — a fundraising 10k Road Race and 3K Fun Run. The 10K course winds through the villages of Broad Chalke and Bowerchalke and the picturesque countryside in between. The 10th Anniversary attracted a record number of entrants across both races.

FOBS a parent lead charity, the event throughout the year to raise funds for the children of Broad Chalke Primary School, helping provide additional equipment and opportunities for them throughout the school year.

Runners were blessed with warm, dry weather although the undulating course left more than a few with aching limbs the next day. The race is expected to raise approximately £2,500.

The Men’s 10k Race was won in one of the quickest times of recent years by Jon Sharkey in 34minutes and 59seconds. The Womens Race was won by Gemma Bragg in 42:48. The 3k Fun under-16 winners were Ruben Wilson-Connell and Olivia Roderick. The U10 winners were Theo James-Phillips and Bella Rees. Full results are available at cvcresults.co.uk.
