PAIR Rob Langan and Phil Muspratt went medal galore at the British Gas National Masters Short Course Championships.

The three day competition, at Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield, attracted more than 1,000 swimmers from across the country.

Muspratt, returning from the pool after a five-month spell, bagged medals in all but one of the age 30-34 categories.

He led the way with four silvers in the 200m, 100m and 50m freestyle as well as the 100m and 50m backstroke.

The only category he dipped out on a medal was the 100m backstroke, finishing fifth.

"All things considered I am so happy with this weekend. I swam so much quicker than I did at my last short course event at the NER Championships and to have progressed so much is fantastic for me.

"Normally silver wouldn't be good enough for me but after a broken 14 weeks of training, this weekend has gone brilliantly."

Salisbury Stingrays' Langan also enjoyed a successful weekend in the 25-29 age group,

finishing second in the 100m backstroke and third in 200m backstroke.

"This has been a great weekend for me. I have come away with some pleasing results and my medals represent the hard work I'm putting in at the pool and gym. I have plenty to work on but this is a positive for me as it shows so much potential for quicker times. Next year's European Championships are in London and this is my main season's aim, this is what all the hard work is for."
