A BUMPER crowd watched Ellingham and Ringwood pit their wits with doctor Adam Fityan's All Stars in a closely-fought friendly.

Es entertained their former player's side, made up of his former colleagues from medial school, at Raymond Brown Memorial Ground.

The All Stars had a really exciting back line that entertained the crowd throughout the afternoon, but it was the home side that had the stronger pack.

The visitors started the brighter and they had built up 21-0 lead with three converted tries before Henry Benson, the Ellingham scrum half, went over under the posts after a period of sustained pressure.

Veteran fly half, Andy Weeks, kicked the conversion to close the gap to 21-7. It was then the Ellingham forwards who dominated the next period of the game and Benson scored two further tries to complete his hat trick. He converted one and Weeks kicked the other to make it 21-21 at the break.

The medics came back strongly at the start of the second half and took a 28-21 lead after scoring a converted try. Ellingham then played some of their best rugby of the afternoon and were rewarded with three further tries from lock forward Tim Linford, wing three quarter Chris Frost and full back Cullen Connors.

Two of which were converted by Andy Weeks to give the home side a 40-28 lead. With five minutes left to play it looked as if the hosts would win comfortably, but the medics had other ideas and started running everything, even from deep inside their own half.

They were rewarded with a converted try to make it 40-35 and from the restart they attacked again. Some superb handling and blistering pace from the wing three quarter saw them score in the corner to level the scores. This left a difficult kick to win the game, but it fell short, which resulted in a deserved draw.
