SALISBURY parkrun has broken another record.

Saturday saw 311 runners descend on Churchill Gardens for the 5k run, surpassing the previous week's biggest turnout by 24.

The new Walk2Run Initiative, which started on January 9, boosted attendance significantly which broke through 300 for the first time.

Elizabeth Roberts explained: “We switched to our all-tarmac Route B course on Saturday and, although this means a shorter lap, the course didn't feel overcrowded, despite of the large number of participants.

"We were amazed at the turnout and the Walk2Run Initiative has been very successful so far.

"Now that we've built up great community spirit at Salisbury parkrun, we hope this will encourage our new starters to come back every week to improve their fitness."
