THE changeable weather has made sport difficult for anglers for no sooner do fish start feeding as the weather warms up, than cold winds, rain and hail return putting them off.

In the better periods though, sport has been quite good and a visit to one lake near Fordingbridge has probably got a young teenager hooked on fishing.

Thirteen-year-old Harry Davis, pictured, spent a day at Christchurch Angling Club's Ibsley Pool and banked a nice 10lb 4oz carp.

Carp have started to make an appearance on the warmer days in Barnmoor Lake at Witherington Farm Fishery with Ian Barlow landing one of 22lb and another angler banking the heaviest of the week at 23lb.

All the lakes at the fishery are starting to fish better, with skimmers, silver fish and a few tench beginning to show.

Double-figure carp have also been landed from Hucklesbrook Lake, near Ringwood, while the middle lake at Wedgehill Fishery, Verwood, is providing some good mixed bags of fish.

If it is perch you are interested in, then the fishery's bottom lake is the place to go as specimens up to 3lb have been coming out and plenty around the 2lb mark.
