A FAMILY fun day is taking place for the third successive year in memory of a Salisbury mother who died of breast cancer.

Lyn Futcher died aged 44 in November 2013 after a brave six-year battle with cancer.

She spent her final weeks in the care of Salisbury Hospice, a charity her husband Greig and three children Thomas, Henry and Freddie want to continue raising money for.

In the previous two events, they raised £9,000 for the hospice, and this year they hope to surpass that total.

The Lyn Futcher Fabulous Family Fun Day, which takes place on Saturday, May 7 at Cedars, Skew Bridge, has a variety of events.

For children, there will be a bouncy castle, facepainting, candyfloss, popcorn and soft drinks.

While for the adults, aside from the football, there will be live music and a beer festival.

"Lyn loved to see her children having fun and also liked nothing more than to hear about how they had got on in their football matches. As these two things were dear to her, that’s what makes up the core of the day," said Futcher.

"Throw in some live music, beer festival and some hot food then it’s a perfect way to remember her.

"All we need now is some good weather and people to attend the event and we will hit our target."

In the meantime, a silent auction will take place on the Lyn Futcher Fabulous Family Fun Day Facebook page.

People can bid for a Southampton shirt from 1976 which is signed by Nick Holmes and the squad that won the FA Cup.
