SALISBURY Tri Club's Hannah Yates sprinted to a sixth place finish in the Big T Sprint Triathlon in Trowbridge on Bank Holiday Monday.

Her time to complete a 400m swim, 25k bike ride and 5k run was one hour and 28 minutes.

Elsewhere in athletics, Ian Shelley took fourth place in the Neolithic half marathon on a testing course between Avebury and Bulford on Sunday.

The City of Salisbury runner's time of 1hour 24min 54sec demonstrated his strength on the long hills that split the field and augurs well for other long distance events later in the season.

Lizzie Guasch did well to clock 2.02.28 closely followed by Andy Robbins with 2.02.37 and Kathryn Dreyer completed the foursome in 2.19.39.

In the still more challenging full marathon event, Fiona Ross-Russell produced an excellent 3.53.28 and Liz Roberts was timed at 4.51.36.
