CITY of Salisbury athlete Jay Domoney smashed the club’s 1500m record when making his track outdoor debut in the under-20 age group, just two weeks after turning 17.

His time of 4min 00.57sec was good enough to revise a mark that has stood for almost 30 years.

In the same British Milers’ Club meeting at Millfield, Alex Darbost also notched up a personal best at the distance, clocking 4.23, and the under-13 pocket rocket Rose Warren overcame windy conditions to clock a promising 2min 34sec 800m.

At Yeovil, Jacob Norcliffe and Sam Stephenson also set new pb’s when winning at 100m and 200m, while Ottilie Knight’s excellent 39.46m throw in the javelin propelled her to fourth place in the national rankings.

Unable to run the London marathon last month, roadrunner Mike White found good form at the Milton Keynes 26 miler and came away with a good time of 3hours 21min 13sec.

In the Hampshire League 10mile road race at Alton, Chris Southern made an emphatic return to racing, his rapid 60min 55sec run gaining him fifth place, just ahead of Stuart Holloway in eighth spot with 62.11.

Ian Lawrence finished in the top hundred with 73.51, than came Nick Hudson 82.28, Darren Clissold 85.55 and Colin McGuinness 101.14.
