A SEA of blue is expected to cover Hudson's Field at this year's Race for Men.

Hundreds of already signed up, but organisers are urging more joggers to show their support against prostate cancer.

More than 300 people ran last year's race and a further 100 are required.

The team hopes to reach their target with today's launch of 10 Days To Go campaign on Facebook.

The aim of the initiative is for 10 men to sign up each day across 10 days ahead of the race on Sunday, June 12.

David Ferris said: "With this in mind, we'll be encouraging as many people as possible to change their Facebook profile pic to the picture attached.

"You can choose the 'temporary profile pic' option on a desktop. If you could ask your family, friends, work colleagues and anyone else you can think of to change their profile pic on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

"Let's spread the word to help fight this deadly disease."

David, along with fellow Body Lounge Foundation co-owners brothers Steve and Toby Giles, raised £15,636 for Salisbury District Hospital's Stars Appeal/Prostate Cancer Fund.

That sum funded a top-of-the-range scanner which detects prostate cancer.

It is currently the only piece of equipment available in the South West and race organisers hope to raise enough money to fund a second.

David added: "We would like to buy another scanner for the prostate cancer unit."

"We've been to the hospital for a demonstration of the equipment and people from Cornwall and London come to the hospital to use it.

"It was a luxury but is now a necessity."

"The event is entirely self-funded by The Body Lounge and every penny goes to charity."

"We have evidence from last year that it worked and we're really happy with how things have gone - it's absolutely crazy."

The race has raised awareness across the city and been backed by a number of clubs and organisations.

The city's re-born football club, Salisbury FC, has pledged its backing to the cause.

The club demonstrated its support at a Sydenhams Wessex Premier home match with Hamworthy United, with players sporting the official race tops.

Whites winger Danny Young will be joining hundreds at the startline.

The Salisbury 10k is on multi-terrain, with a supporting 3k fun run, which can be run competitively with B tag chip timing jogged - or both distances can be walked.

David continued: "We're grateful of any volunteers who are able to help us.

"We wouldn't be able to it without marshals or volunteers."
