JO Terry scooped the Wiltshire Ladies County Golf Association championship at Hamptworth Golf and Country Club.

The Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club player took home first prize after a majestic all-round display across the three-day tournament.

In total, 22 ladies from 14 Wiltshire clubs entered the qualifying competition at the New Forest course.

The Taunton Bowl for the runner-up went to Alison Grandison of Chippenham who also won the Sybil Parson Plate for the best gross score in the qualifying rounds for contestants aged 40 and over.

In the Second Flight, the Gillian Wood Trophy was won by Courtney Boyes of The Wiltshire, with Katie Dove-Medows of Cumberwell Park the runner-up.

Semi-finalists were Tuppence Hale of Chippenham and Karen Sturges of Tidworth.

Hamptworth owner Carl Faulds said: “It was a pleasure to host the tournament and I’m pleased the course was testing but enjoyable.

“After a huge amount of work on the course this summer, we are extremely pleased with how it is playing and we welcome members and non-members to come and have a round and then enjoy our newly refurbished, family-friendly café-bar, Barny’s.”

Lynn Thornton, county competition secretary, said: “The champion – Jo Terry – played 99 holes over the three days, including a 36 hole medal on day one – proving that not only is this championship a test of golf but also of stamina, mental ability and fitness.
