CITY of Salisbury’s Stuart Holloway returned to winning ways at the White Star trail marathon around Holton Lee Park in Dorset.

On an eight lap course known to be as hard on the mind as on the legs, Holloway kept his concentration and running form together for 26.2 miles despite the warm and humid conditions, taking first place with an excellent 3hours 12min 02sec.

Liz Roberts finished in the top half of the field, crossing the line in 4.47.24. Also doing well, Kathryn Dreyer in the five-mile clocked 54.40 for top spot in her age group.

In the 50k ultra marathon at the same venue, Phil Smith completed the distance in 4.55.37.

Mike White was the club’s best performer at the Salisbury 10k Race for Men, his 43min 41sec another good run on a testing course near Old Sarum.

Next was Jon Kershaw in 48.39, then came Phil Perry 48.43, Nick Hudson 49.51, Craig Murphy 50.44 and a determined Jef Hutchby with 63.04.
