THREE gold medals were the haul for City of Salisbury’s young athletes at the south west inter-counties championships in Exeter.

Kieron Appleton took the under 15 hurdles title with a new personal best for good measure, and his win was matched by Bea Wood in the under 13 1500m and then by Jaymee Domoney in the under 20 1500m.

Silvers went to Ottilie Knight who notched up a personal best in under 17 javelin, and to Georgia Clarke in the under 13 shot. Harry Clarke was bronze medallist in the under 15 100m, and another bronze went to Skye Allen in the under 17 200m.

Former Salisbury runner Rob Mann, now with Exeter Harriers, was winner of the Sturminster Newton half marathon in a fine time of 1hour 13min 29sec. Nick Harris was well up the field in 1.38.31.

Mark Glanville tackled the testing Mendip 50mile ultra distance run based at Frome and coped well with the 2,000m of ascent to finish in 10hours 35min 30sec.
