ELLINGHAM & Ringwood took a squad of 30 players to Fawley on Saturday for another pre-season friendly.

Fawley started well and scored an early try to take a 5-0 lead, but Ellingham came back strongly with tries from captain Garrett Avis (pictured), lock forward Tim Linford, full back Jack Galton, centre Archer Cockayne and flank forward Andrew Lorton. Fly half Danny Hodnett also kicked four of the five conversions. This opened up a 33-5 lead, but Fawley came back strongly late in the game to score two further tries and a conversion to make the final score 19-33.

Es coach Alan Steel said: "There were some real positives to take away from this warm up, but there's still a lot to work on before our first league game."

They travel to Ventnor on Saturday, September 17 for their Snows Hampshire One opener.
