OISIN Murphy rode a double at Salisbury's penultimate race meeting of the season on Wednesday.

It was a performance which shot him to the top of the jockey chart at the Netherhampton Course, joining David Probert. Both are on seven course winners for the season.

After Make Time had cruised to victory in the opener, Murphy landed the first leg of his double when steering Mucho Applause to a 'pillar to post' victory in division 2 of the Wilkins Kennedy British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes. In the process, Murphy's mount extended trainer Andrew Balding's lead at the top of the Salisbury Trainers' standings for 2016 (with nine-course winners) and the Kingsclere handler now looks set to claim this title at the season finale.

Bellajeu secured Murphy's brace in the Bathwick Tyres Handicap with a gutsy performance for trainer Ralph Beckett. Again, settled prominently, Bellajeu battled home under top weight in the final two furlongs to hold off the determined challenge of Jimmy Fortune aboard Contingency.

There was an upset in the Bathwick Tyres Conditions Stakes as odds-on shot Eqtiraan was collared by David Evans' Smokey Lane under Adam Kirby, before blossoming apprentice Josephine Gordon led Pettochside to a tenacious victory in the Alford Investments Ltd Handicap for trainer John Bridger.

The feature Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap was landed by Harry Dunlop's Storm Rock who bounced back to form under Harry Bentley. Dunlop's colt stayed on stoutly following a slightly troubled passage to pick up long-time leader Beach Bar before repelling the challenges of Landwade Lad and Captain Morley inside the closing stages.

The card was rounded off with victory for Ed Walker's Glorious Legend under Tom Marquand.

Salisbury's final meet of the season takes place on Monday, October 10, where the course hosts its Bathwick Tyres reduced admission raceday.

Tickets cost £9 in advance or £13 on the day.
