KATHY Dudman from City of Salisbury Athletics and Running Club travelled all the way to north west England at the weekend for the Chester marathon.

After an excellent run, she crossed the line in 3hours 8mins 34sec, her best ever time at the 26.2mile distance.

As icing on the cake she not only took tenth place in her age group among well more than 2,000 finishers, but also pipped training partner Clive Smith’s 3.10.43.

Sally Greenslade too ran well, clocking 3.39.23 to take sixth place in her category.

Over the downs between Salisbury and Winchester, Ian Rutherford finished the tough Clarendon marathon in 3.40.55 and he was followed by Phil Smith with 3.44.27 and Nick Cooke 3.48.00.

In the massed ranks of the Cardiff half marathon, Ian Shelley ran a creditable 1.28.53, while over the same distance at Lincoln the mile-eating Nick Hudson recorded 1.34.57 and along the promenade at Bournemouth Nick Willetts clocked a promising 1.40.06.
