THE Salisbury Journal Sports Awards will take place at the home of Salisbury FC.

The Ray Mac in Old Sarum will host the event on Friday, November 4 at 7pm.

The gala dinner, which is a black tie event, will be served in a marquee.

There will be tables of eight on the night which will feature a guest speaker.

Editor and publisher Bill Browne says he’s looking forward to the return of the event after a 10-year absence.

He said: “We are blessed with sporting stars in Salisbury and south Wiltshire and I am looking forward to spending a night with some of the best of them.

“The Journal Sports Awards 2016 will be a great way to recognise the huge amount of effort and dedication that goes into the performance week-on-week by individuals and teams.

“Yes, we will honour those who are at the very top of their sport, but this event is also about giving thanks to those in the backrooms too.

“We urge our readers to nominate now so that we can ensure these awards go to the very best in the region.”

Hundreds of people are set to attend what promises to be an action-packed event, with sporting heroes being recognised for their work and involvement in a series of sports.

Tickets, priced at £40, or £320 for a table of eight, are now on sale.
