AARON Wilson dominated the newly-relaunched Salisbury half marathon, taking an early lead on the improved course and increasing his advantage in the later stages to record a fine win.

The City of Salisbury athlete showed excellent form by opening a gap of more than two minutes over his nearest challengers, eventually crossing the city centre finishing line in a personal best time of 1hour 14min 54sec.

In second spot was Steve Claxton of Poole Runners with 1.17.11 and third was Mike Bisson from Lordshill in 1.17.43.

Another of the best performances of the day came from veteran Mike Brewster of the Salisbury club whose 1.19.05 earned him fifth spot.

Mike White finished in 1.29.29, then came Angus Paton with 1.31.07, Lee Syrett 1.32.20, Phil Perry 1.38.01, Nick Willetts 1.39.36, Sarah Brewster 1.41.06, Liz Roberts 1.53.27, Helen Springett 2.00.05, Jeremy Mardles 2.00.35, Juliette Field 2.12.32, Jay Friedlander 2.18.58, Jef Hutchby 2.18.58 and Andy Robbins also 2.18.58.

The City of Salisbury club was also well represented at the Solent half marathon, second fixture of the Hampshire road race league series.

Reece Ingram was pick of the bunch, his fine 1.24.36 leading out the A team and setting a new best mark just ahead of Mark Glanville whose 1.24.50 was another personal best.

Nick Hudson with 1.35.13 and Craig Murphy in 1.36.45 completed the foursome whose placings will count for the league standings.

Making it a husband-wife double, Charlotte Ingram clocked a good 1.39.51 for the ladies’ A team, and she was backed up by Mel Murphy’s personal best 1.45.07 and Jane Whiteley with 1.55.23.

Other finishers were Jon Kershaw 1.41.29, Colin Martin 2.18.32 and Will Witt 2.21.33.
