THE curtain came down on another summer of racing at Salisbury on Monday in the Reduced Admission Race Day.

Alan King's short priced favourite, War Chief, obliged in impressive fashion to land the first Division of the Bathwick Car & Van Hire Maiden Auction Stakes by five lengths under Jimmy Fortune.

The second division went the way of 25/1, outsider Billesdon Bess for Richard Hannon and Tom Marquand who was riding his first winner on his first day as a professional jockey.

Hannon got a double with Bigger And Better winning bathwickcarandvanhire.co.uk.

Both divisions of the Bathwick Tyres Handicap were scooped by Paul Hanagan and David Loughnane. The duo combined with Coolcalmcollected and No Refund respectively, with the latter scoring a decisive three-length victory after an enterprising ride from the front.

John Gosden started a successful raid on Salisbury in the Bathwick Tyres British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes with the highly-touted Icespire.

Gosden struck again in the high-quality EBF Stallions Bathwick Tyres Conditions Stakes as the unexposed Crazy Horse ran on nicely to land the spoils from Estidhkaar.

The Bathwick Tyres "Season Finale" Handicap brought the curtain down on the 2016 racing season at Salisbury with victory for Champagne Champ under Richard Kingscote.

The track will now have a well-earned rest before preparations begin for 2017.
