REECE and Charlotte Ingram, one of City of Salisbury’s swift-running married couples, both made their mark at the White Horse Gallop – an eight-mile race on tracks around the Imber Range and the Wessex Ridgeway.
Just four minutes down on winner, Matthew Batten, of Bristol and West AC, Reece took ninth spot overall in a time that showed how tough the strength sapping climbs were: 53min 33sec.
Another good run came from in-form Charlotte, her run of 65.40 placing her well up the competitive field.
The Abingdon marathon lived up to its growing reputation as one of the UK’s most rapid autumn marathon courses, the host club’s Paul Fernandez clocking 2hours 30mins to win it.
Making his debut at the far from easy 26.2mile distance, Salisbury’s Mark Glanville exceeded expectations with an outstanding 3.02.27, setting him up for a realistic tilt at a future sub-three hours.
