SALISBURY’S parkrun held at Churchill Gardens every Saturday since June 2015 has just clocked up a huge milestone - its 20,000th individual run.
The 5k event has attracted no less than 3,728 different runners and walkers in that time, amassing a total distance covered of 100,040kms, equivalent to two and a half laps around plant Earth.
Saturday’s fastest run was by Ben Carter who completed the three lap, accurately measured course around the park in 17min 52sec.
City of Salisbury’s Lee Syrett was third in 18.47. Fastest lady was Anne-Marie Bayliss with a time of 21.12.
Top of the age gradings on the day was the Salisbury club’s Phil Smith in the 50-54 category, timed at a rapid 19.55.
The total number of participants on Saturday was 377, as parkrun’s popularity in the Salisbury area continues to grow.
