A SALISBURY girl became the youngest player to compete in a Salisbury and District Badminton Senior League match.
At nine years old, Katie Ovenden made her debut for Bourne Valley against Marnhull & Gillingham on Tuesday night - breaking a record that stood for 30 years.
Katie, who trains at Five Rivers Leisure Centre, is currently ranked sixth in England in under-12s.
She also plays for Salisbury Juniors and Wiltshire County Under 14s.
At the weekend, she won the Herefordshire under 13 singles and also received a bronze in the doubles.
