A STORMY morning for the Gosport half marathon proved no deterrent to City of Salisbury road runners whose 19 finishers achieved five personal bests.

The first of the day’s bests on the two lap, 13.1mile course alongside the Solent came from Steve Auton; his time of 1hour 26min 13sec resulted in a most unusual same-time dead heat with clubmate Reece Ingram.

With Mike White clocking 1.30.03 and Clive Smith close behind with 1.30.26, these four made the men’s A team.

The ladies’ A team trio were led by Charlotte Ingram setting another good personal best with 1.38.01, supported by Mel Murphy in 1.45.34 and Liz Roberts in 1.51.00.

Craig Murphy continued his sequence of personal bests with 1.35.36 as first counter for the men’s B squad, with Richard Larcombe also improving his best with 1.37.37, Andy Budgell 1.38.33 and Phil Perry 1.38.49 completing the foursome.

Jane Whiteley was first ladies B team scorer with 1.54.13, with good support from Chrissy Gorham in 1.56.13 and Di Cross in 2.00.09.

Other finishers were Nick Willetts 1.42.47, Stuart Robertson 1.46.10pb, Paul Slaughter 1.52.41, Nick Hudson 1.59.12 and Colin Martin 2.11.24.

The next fixture in the Hampshire road race league is on Sunday with the Hayling 10mile.
