UNDEFEATED Ellingham and Ringwood's Women continue to rule the roost in the National Challenge Division 2 South.

They completed a resounding 22-0 victory over Southampton at the Raymond Brown Memorial Ground to stay top at the halfway stage of the season.

There was no score in a closely-contested first half, but shortly after the break Ellingham’s wing three quarter Evie Karkera made a good break and prop forward Hannah Walraven was in support to crash over for their first try.

Fullback Chloe Barrett and flank forward Amy Shipley both then scored tries with Barrett adding a conversion.

Late in the game, debutant Izzy Hall, from the club’s under 18s' side, scored a superb individual try from an attacking scrum.

Coach Henry Benson said: "We had to work hard for the result and we didn’t play well, particularly in the first half.

“This is a tough league with most teams being able to beat each other on their day, so it’s good to be top at Christmas, but we’re going to have to keep up our momentum in the new year."

The women don't play again until Sunday, January 15 at home to Havant.
