FORDINGBRIDGE secured a bonus point win in Snows Hampshire One after defeating Fareham away 41-5.

There were changes from the Ventnor game two weeks ago and the visitors went into the match with two debutants, scrum half Ryan Waite and flanker James Robinson.

The Heathens pack was quickly into their stride and Fordingbridge spent the first 20 minutes in their own half.

However, their defence held out and, in a rare foray into Fareham’s territory, they were awarded a penalty which centre Mat Norton converted.

It proved to be the first of seven kicks - five conversions and two penalties - for Norton who had a 100 per cent success rate.

With the first points on the board, the tide turned for the visitors and the 25th minute produced a converted try for full back Peter Scott - the first of a hat-trick.

Fordingbridge were now on the charge and three more tries in quick succession from wing Alex Davenport and two more from Scott, all converted by Norton saw the New Forest side build a commanding 31-0 lead which they took in to half time.

Fareham did get a second half try, but a converted try from lock Alex Tattersall and a late penalty from Norton gave Fordingbridge a very comfortable 41-5 victory - a fifth on the bounce in the league.

Saturday sees third-placed Fordingbridge host Romsey and their second team welcome Blandford ahead of their Christmas break.
