CITY of Salisbury’s junior runners showed the way at the Wiltshire cross country championships in testing terrain at Bath.

Rose Warren turned in another excellent performance to take second place among the under 13s, with Alice Oliffe-Lee 14th and well up in the same age group.

Nile Battey did equally well in the under 15s, also filling second spot while Lukas Bailey was a good fourth in the under 13 boys’ race and Tasha Mundell fifth in the under 17s girls’ event.

For the senior men, Ed O’Gorman came 10th overall and was placed third in the veterans’ category, while Aly Sloane also ran well to take 11th spot in the women’s race.

Winner of Saturday’s Salisbury parkrun was Jaymee Domoney who set a cracking new personal best of 16min 17sec, with clubmate Lee Syrett almost exactly one minute behind in second place. Quickest female was Cherry Newsam in 21.32.

Event director Liz Roberts has confirmed that the 5k Salisbury parkrun at Churchill Gardens will start at 9am as normal on Christmas Eve and also at 9am on New Year’s Eve as well as offering a special New Year’s Day parkrun, starting at 10.30am.

A festive welcome for the region’s many hundreds of new parkrunners is guaranteed.
