ELLINGHAM & Ringwood were well beaten by high-flying Petersfield 36-5 on Saturday in Hampshire Division 1.

Ellingham missed a penalty kick that would have given them an early lead, but Petersfield were then able to dominate, scoring three tries and a conversion to open up a 17-0 lead at the break.

Ellingham closed the gap to 17-5 when centre Callum Butler scored a good try, but that was as good as it got for them.

Ellingham & Ringwood’s women remain top of National Challenge Division 2 South after a 27-10 home win over Seaford at the Raymond Brown Memorial Ground on Sunday.

Ellingham’s wing three quarter Charlotte Smith scored in the corner to make it 5-5 at the break, but in the second half Ellingham were able to dominate and full-back Chloe Barrett scored two early tries. These were followed with tries from number 8 Izzy Hall and centre Emma Lipsett. Chloe Barrett also kicked a conversion. Seaford hit back with a try of their own.
