LEE Syrett paid tribute to his uncle by recording a super-fast time at the Bath Half Marathon.

Remembering ex-footballer David Syrett, Lee completed the 13-mile running race on Sunday in a new personal best of 1.28.01.

He came 427th in a 16,000 plus strong field as well as raising money for the The Brain Tumour Charity, which is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours and provides support for those affected.

David, who played for the likes of Swindon Town, Mansfield Town, Walsall, Peterborough United, Northampton Town and hometown club Salisbury City, died of a brain tumour last July, aged 60.

“It was an emotional day all round, I was joined by David’s eldest daughter, Kerry,” said Lee.

“It wasn’t about running, however, a new personal best of 1.28.01 was well received, 427th from a 16,000 field.”

“I also had the privilege of meeting Lewis Moody, who has his own charity foundation supporting sufferers of brain tumours.”

“Fundraising is still open and now up to £560 - a massive heartfelt thank you to everyone.”
