SALISBURY Tri Club got their 2017 season off with a bang this weekend.

Matthew Spooner sealed fourth place at the Mad March triathlon in Wimborne, also winning his age category in the process. Elsewhere, David Hartley secured the overall win at the Durrington Aquathlon swim-run event, supported by Alan Sawyer in his first race in Salisbury Tri Club colours.

Other club members doing single discipline events around the country also impressed: Alan Bayliss running 1h 29min for a half marathon personal best at Reading and Jen Witt and Dudley Kent likewise achieving lifetime bests at the Fleet Half marathon. An encouraging start to the year all round and one which bodes well for the rest of the season. The club is running its annual “Intro to Tri” programme this year, beginning on 17th May.
