YOUNG motor sport star Olly Horner started this season's Cool Fab Racing Mini Moto British Championships with a double podium.

The 10-year-old rider collected a brace of third places along with a fourth in the first round at Llandow in South Wales

The Longfield Primary School pupil said: "I need to say a massive thank you to Hayball Motorcycles for sponsoring him and providing him with his helmet and BS Moto Store in Italy for providing his leathers."

Horner started riding mini motos in 2016, having attended some open sessions and enjoyed it.

He then attended the Scott Redding Academy at Swindon Karting.

The young rider progressed quickly through the academy and was starting to show a talent, so last season made his debut in the British Championships in the Junior Minimoto AC40 Rookies class.

His first time in full competition saw him finished 18th and went onto race in five rounds of the championship.

In the final round in October 2017 at Rowrah, he recorded his best finish of 10th.

During the winner he had the amazing opportunity of pre-season training in Spain.

This incorporated two tracks, over 8 days. Cartagena and Finestrat – the training ground for a young Marc Marquez, now the Spanish GP rider.

Over the eight days on track, they worked the riders hard from early in the morning until late afternoon. Developing racing and riding techniques.

This certainly paid dividends after his excellent start to the season.

The next round is at Clay Pigeon this weekend.

Horner is looking for further sponsorship throughout the season and anyone interested can email Geoff Horner – geoffchipper24@gmail.com
