A BAG of seven double-figure carp, big barbel and specimen chub have all been landed by anglers over the last few days as rivers and lakes continue to provide quality sport.

Ian Vincent spent an evening on Barnmoor Lake at Witherington Farm Fishery and his meat bait fished over a bed of hemp proved to be a successful method as he finished the evening with seven carp, all doubles, the biggest at 26lb, another at 23lb 8oz and the rest around the 15lb to 20lb mark.

Big carp have also been caught near Ringwood. Spinaker Lake provided one angler with a 35lb mirror and Tompkins Lake has yielded several carp in the upper 20s.

A 14lb 4oz barbel has been caught from the Avon at Ibsley, one of 13lb 12oz from Lifelands and two big chub of 7lb 4oz and 6lb 14oz from Somerley. Two chub of 5lb apiece came out of the Avon at Burgate and many stretches of the Avon are producing good bags of dace.

Ringwood angler, Robert Black, landed his best ever ghost carp when he fished Abbots Lake at Waldens Farm Fishery, weighing-in at 23lb.

Mark Porter fished the same lake and landed a perch of 3lb 2oz and several roach around the 1lb mark also came out of the lake.

Good bags of roach and bream have come from Bishops Lake while Monks Lake continues to provide anglers with good bags of carp, tench, crucians and bream, with chub coming from pegs around the bridge and island.

Mixed bags of chub and carp from the top pool on Popes Lake while other swims are producing roach, tench and carp with float-fished corn and pellet top baits.

Deacons Lake is producing bags up to 58lb of mixed fish with the forest bank the hot spot.

An afternoon and evening Open Match on Cottage Lake at Witherington Farm last week was won by Paul Barnard with 88lb. Mark Cannings’ 44lb 5oz was runner-up.

It was a different story on Saturday when the same lake was the venue for another Open Match. The top weight that day was 38lb landed by Ian Goodfellow. Mark Cannings was again second, this time with 34lb.
