SALISBURY Racecourse’s final race meeting of the season, on Monday, October 11, will be free admission.

The race meeting, sponsored in its entirety by Bathwick Tyres, currently has a 2.10pm start time and features a £14,000 Class 2 Conditions Stakes over seven furlongs.

Winners on last year’s card included Prince of Dance, Hanoverian Baron, Thrill and most notably Overturn who has subsequently won the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate and Guinness Galway Hurdle.

This will be a ticketless race meeting and people need just to turn up to gain access. Car parking will also be free.

A “Losing Betting Ticket Competition” will be taking place with prizes including a night’s stay for two at a four-star hotel near Cheltenham, for three lucky winners.

Salisbury’s clerk of the course and executive director, Jeremy Martin said: “We were delighted with how the free admission meeting went 12 months ago and it received excellent feedback.

“I spoke to several racegoers, some of whom had never been racing before and the fact it was free entry, was the key factor.

“A free admission raceday is perfect for anyone who has never been racing before – they can just come up on the day and experience it."
