SALISBURY Rugby Club failed to get the dream start they wished for under the reign of new head coach Neil Loader on Saturday at promotion-chasing Towcestrians.

Despite the visitors being hampered with injuries and forced to travel with one substitute, they played some well constructed rugby, in wind prevailing conditions, but eventually fell to a 59-12 loss.

The hosts gained the upper hand as their robust and aggressive pack, despite a monumental defensive performance from Salisbury, ran home their first try.

This opened the way for further scores but Salisbury fronted up well and a well worked move saw Drew White chasing a kick through for a score to go in at half time 26-5 down.

New boss Loader, pictured right, saw his side start the second half well, driving forward and keeping the ball alive only for possession to be lost just short of the Towcester line.

From the kick off after a home score, Leon Taylor, moving in from the wing to open side flanker, was adjudged to have taken a player out in the air and was sent to cool his heels for ten minutes. The hosts began to pull away with a series of scores d e s p i t e some heroic defending.

T a y l o r took full advantage of his enforced rest to score under the posts, converted by Andy Herriott, before the hosts had the last say with a converted try to end on a high.
