JAMIE Miller converted his first senior hat-trick as pacemakers Salisbury RFC put Leighton Buzzard to the sword with a 48-22 victory.

A bumper crowd, including VP lunch guests, watched Green and Whites annihilate their opponents, despite finishing the encounter with 14 men, to preserve their two-point lead at the top of South West 1 (East).

The hosts stormed out of the starting blocks, Rob Larcombe with a well-worked try which Tom Lane converted.

Josh Green and Olly Bowden added further scores with Leighton Buzzard only mustering a penalty.

The visitors scored an intercepted try in their own half and Salisbury found themselves under pressure until Miller went over with the effective boot of Tom Lane adding the extras for a half time lead of 24-8.

Dave Tonge and Liam Gilbert opened up a route for Josh Green to score his second try of the game. Then loose play allowed Buzzard to score.

From the the kick off, Dan Hammond went in close under the posts for a try and Salisbury extended their lead with the conversion from Lane. Miller scored his second of the game putting the result beyond doubt.

But Lane's red card, his punishment for throwing a punch after a late tackle, gave Leighton Buzzard further hope of the bonus point, and ran in their third try of the game. This came before Miller brought the match to a halt with a third and final try.

Head coach Dan Jeffries said: "It was another great win against a team that were on a real winning streak."

"From the outset, we controlled the game, through controlled phases and good ball retention leading to space outside. Throughout the game they struggled to deal with our ball carriers, especially Jamie Miller who came away with the first hat trick of his illustrious career."
