THE Druid Cup was clinched by Salisbury RFC Under-16s.

The teenagers defeated Saracens RFC – an amateur side from north London – 45-15 in the maiden fixture, which King Arthur Pendragon opened with a blessing.

The match at Castle Road was an even-tempered affair between the teams with some fast-flowing rugby on both sides.

The trophy remains with Salisbury RFC and next year¹s Saracens under-16s have to travel from London to compete to take it back to Bramley Road.

Whoever wins the trophy hosts the event.

nSalisbury RFC hope to raise vital funds next year for new showers and changing room facilities and Druid Cup organisers are hoping to chip in with the club's Winter Solstice Fair.
