SALISBURY RFC Under-11s pitted their wits against some top teams in the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup.

The Castle Road juniors were among 20 teams as 300 under-12 and 11 players descended on Trowbridge Rugby Club.

Despite some spirited performances, they were unable to lift the under-11s cup trophy and missed out on a chance to play at Twickenham for the Aviva Premiership Grand Final on May 28.

Player Ivor Jones said: “We played really well in our first game against Bath.

“We managed to hold our own and we knew what our game plan was.

“It was quite interesting playing against other teams. Our team tried to be as organised as we could.

“I like playing rugby because it’s fast and intense. I want to keep playing it for as long as I can."

Launched during the 2008/09 season, the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is the first national grassroots tournament officiated by Premiership Rugby and run in conjunction with all 12 clubs.

Land Rover is a proud supporter of grassroots rugby and has been a partner of the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup for nearly a decade. Land Rover’s ‘We Deal In Real’ campaign continues to champion grassroots rugby through Premiership Rugby and the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup.
