RUGBY World Cup winner Richard Hill is returning to his boyhood club as a special guest at a sportsman's dinner.

The flanker, who was part of England's winning team which beat Australia in the 2003 final, will speak at Salisbury RFC's event on Friday, September 16.

Hill MBE will be joined by fellow countryman Tim Stimpson at Salisbury Guildhall.

The evening will include a four course meal, speeches, Q&A session and an auction of rugby memorabilia in aid of raising funds for the club's All Change initiative.

The project is set to transform their changing facilities and install a state-of-the-art block, which is set to cost about £300,000.

"I am so pleased to be attending their sportsperson’s dinner, which gives me the opportunity to endorse their efforts to raise money for much-needed modern changing facilities," said Hill, a former Bishop Wordsworth's pupil who started in Salisbury's mini ranks before turning pro with Saracens.

"I urge the people of Salisbury to support All Change and secure rugby coaching for the future."

"The quality coaching, and the environment to enjoy rugby I received, sent me on my journey through the professional game to become a 2003 World Cup winner."

There are 15 tables of ten and the club's looking for sponsors and businesses to get involved.

The evening is a black tie affair and starts at 7.30pm.
