SALISBURY United started their Dorset & Wilts 1 South campaign on a buoyant note after defeating Trowbridge 55-5.

A try by skipper Richie Roe, converted by Callum Wright who had kicked an early penalty, allowed Salisbury to go into the break with a slender 10-5 lead.

In the second half, the home team were able to increase the pace and dominate rucks, and tries followed for Jack Gurney, Zach Green, Miles Thompson, Mark Lerpiniere and Duncan Grocock. Wright helped himself to double tries and four more conversions in the win at Castle Road.

Salisbury A narrowly lost 28-24 to New Milton in Dorset & Wilts 2 South while the fourths beat Weymouth and Portland 55-10 in Dorset & Wilts 3 South.
