SALISBURY United steered into third in Dorset and Wilts 1 South after romping to a 36-10 win over Sherborne seconds.

Tom Pottage scored a penalty and a try, which he converted, to get proceedings under way.

An excellent move put Theo Daniel over for a try to ease the nerves, giving the seconds a 15-0 lead to protect at half-time.

Playing against the elements, Salisbury were much better value in the second half.

And tries by Callum Wright, Mike Dauwalder and a second for Daniel, all converted by Pottage, were just reward for an improved display, cancelling out two consolation tries for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Salisbury A cruised to a 52-12 win over North Dorset thirds in Dorset and Wilts 2 South.

Skipper Mark Lerpiniere, Mike Latter, Brandon Akal and Gav Shelton scored a

brace of tries apiece and Jamie Wright added six conversions.

However, there was defeat for Salisbury Stones, who were beaten by New Milton thirds 30-19 in Dorset and Wilts 3 South.

Tries from Richard Davidson and Freddy Sernisawa were not enough to stop the Stones from crashing to defeat.
