SALISBURY seconds are sitting pretty at the top of Dorset & Wilts Division One after registering their third win of the campaign, defeating Bridport 18-12.

It was a tough fixture for the second string but Salisbury showed their strength in depth, with a solid all-round performance.

Bridport's pack were in a belligerent mood and may have done better had they controlled their emotions more successfully.

Nathan Vyas scored first for Salisbury from open play, Richard Wade adding the conversion.

From a ruck, Salisbury span the ball out wide to fly-half Tom Moreton, who ran 60 metres to score a fine individual try.

With the half-time score standing at 12-0 to Salisbury, Bridport piled on the pressure and were justly rewarded with their first try.

However, lack of discipline in the hosts' pack allowed Salisbury to restore their points cushion with two penalties, taking the score to 18-5 in their favour.

Bridport camped out in Salisbury's half for the rest of the game, earning a further consolation score in the form of a converted pushover try.
